Quick Note After Leen’s Lodge: America’s Health

Among other topics at Camp Kotok, America’s health was discussed. One Cyclospora victim was part of our group, so her journey became personal for our group of 50 and not just data. The “food panel” featured experts. Screwworm and food prices intersected in the dialogue.

RFK Jr had some supporters: One stressed the nutritional food initiative, and another argued personal responsibility. In our survey 20% wanted him to stay in the HHS role. The 80% who wanted him replaced made many arguments. The measles vaccine issue was offered as an example of bad policy: “Why should America witness the deaths of children when measles is 100% preventable with a time-tested vaccine?”

The nuanced discussion was about degrees of dangerous information being distributed to people from sources lacking true credibility. For example, ivermectin may help you get rid of a tapeworm, but there’s no evidence that it cures cancer. Anyway, many in the group lamented the deterioration of public health policy.

I will end this quick note with my personal opinion.

There’s only one president, and he signed an executive order for his administration. Its impact will eventually be revealed.

We’re now living in a country where people have to make decisions about their health at a time when government is not a trusted source of information and when social media platforms have their own agenda and policies and the public is vulnerable and susceptible to misleading information. That is where we are whether we like it or not.

People must decide for themselves, and the outcome of the decisions they make can be benign or deadly or something in between.

Below is the link to the White House childhood vaccine policy recommendation that reflects the RFK Jr-led portion of the American government. Regarding his beliefs about vaccines and autism, RFK Jr has influential accolytes. One of them is the President of the United States. What you do is up to you.

We eradicated the screwworm scourge a half century ago. Thanks to the new policy led by the co-author of Project 2025, the screwworms have returned and will cost Texas and all of American ranchers billions while threatening citizens with a fatal infection that they don’t know about and are not prepared for.
